Geumbyeokjeong Pavilion
A riverside pavilion where scholars once recited poetry overlooking the Geumgang River.
Geumbyeokjeong is a Joseon-era pavilion on the banks of the Geumgang River in Sejong. Standing on a hill overlooking the river and fields, it is known as a place where scholars gathered to admire the view and compose poems. Open on all sides with no walls, the pavilion shows how scholars liked to bring nature into their spaces.
It is a quiet spot to feel the river breeze and imagine the leisure of scholars long ago.
The Confucian Connection
Pavilions were where scholars cultivated their minds in nature and shared learning with friends. Geumbyeokjeong shows the older side of the Sejong course's "urban leisure".
