Dodamsambong Peaks

Three rocky peaks rising from the Namhangang River — the first of Danyang's Eight Scenic Views.

Dodamsambong is a group of three rock peaks rising from the middle of the Namhangang River in Danyang, and the most celebrated of the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang. A large central peak flanked by two smaller ones, reflected in the river, looks like a painting. According to legend, Jeong Do-jeon, a founding minister of the Joseon dynasty, loved this view so much that he took "Sambong" (Three Peaks) as his pen name.

Over the centuries many scholars and painters came here and left it behind in poems and paintings.

The Confucian Connection

The tale that Jeong Do-jeon, the architect of Joseon, took his pen name from this place shows the deep bond between scholars and nature. It is a destination of wisdom, where scenery inspires resolve.
